PhD Admissions Prerequisites

The PhD in Health Sciences is designed for applicants with advanced academic preparation and a research-focused profile.

Applicants entering the PhD program are generally expected to hold one of the following:

  • Master’s degree in a health-related discipline
  • MD
  • PharmD

Exceptional students who have not met all prerequisites may be provisionally accepted and invited to complete required courses before beginning doctoral participation.

Interview & Decision Process

After submitting all required items, selected applicants are invited to meet the Admissions Committee online.

Interview Process

  • After the application form and required documents are submitted, the Director of Admissions sends an email within 5 business days to schedule a Zoom interview.
  • Interviews usually last 30 to 45 minutes.
  • The interview committee includes the Director of Admissions and two other faculty or staff members.

Admission Decision

  • After the interview, the Committee reviews the full application.
  • Decisions may take up to 3 weeks depending on the number of candidates.
  • Applicants are notified by email.
  • Admission status may be full admission or denied admission.

Full Admission

Full admission is offered when all required documents have been received, no additional demonstration of qualification is needed and the applicant appears ready to benefit from study at AmeriBridge University.

Denied Admission

Denied admission means the applicant does not meet the qualifications for admission.

Credit Hours & Enrollment Status

AmeriBridge programs are structured around academic credit hours and clearly defined enrollment status.

Credit Hour Requirements

  • Course / Certificate : 12 credit hours
  • MSc program : 36 credit hours
  • PhD program : 60 credit hours

Normal Enrollment

  • MSc students : 6 credit hours / semester
  • Part-time PhD : 3 to 6 credit hours / semester
  • Full-time PhD : 6 to 9 credit hours / semester

Enrollment Status

Enrolled On Leave Withdrawn Dismissed Graduated

Graduation is confirmed once all requirements have been met and verified by the Registrar, the Director of Finance and the Dean.

Support for Students with Disabilities

Students are encouraged to disclose disability status at the time of admission. If a diagnosis is received after enrollment, the student should inform the registrar. Students with documented learning disabilities or other disabilities affecting distance learning may receive additional time for assignments and examinations without penalty.
